The Qur'ran vs The Holy Bible

Okay I guess the whole thing that when you get to college you find who you are is true! I'm currently riding the fence on two religions: Islam and Christianity. Like most Black children in the south, I spent a good part of my life in church, being drilled that Jesus is the light and the only way to get into heaven. But I've always wondered why do we praise Jesus like he is God? God is the one and lonely Lord Christ. So since Obama is running for White House, I decided to research Islam because I would sit at my family's dinner table and listen to them talk about a religion that they knew nothing about. And what I found frighten me. I couldn't tell you what about it scares me so much about it. Maybe because my entire life, I knew there was a God but couldn't praise him because I was raised in the religion. Not to but my family down or anything, my me, my ma and younger sister are the true Blacksheeps of our family. We're smarted then most of our cousins, didn't have to try real hard in school, very open-minded and just think different than most of my family members in general. But even I stand out from the two. I talk very different from them, the tallest person, find humor in everything, love all types of music and more open minded to different things. Anyway, I haven't converted to Islam yet, maybe after I do some more research...

I would suggest picking up a good translation of the Quran (Yusuf Ali, Pickthall, Muhammad Asad, T.B. Irving) and just read through it at your own pace. Also I think that the Autobiography of Malcolm X (or any collection of his speeches) would also be good.
